is that an elf on the shelf I see?

by Jamie Eslinger on December 26, 2009

Christmas is over, the presents are open and everyone is stuffed and happy.  However, someone is missing.  The resident Elf On The Shelf named Ziggy.  He is packed away until next holiday finds his services in need.

We will miss looking for him each morning and hearing the squeals that followed once his hiding spot was discovered.  The skinny and odd looking elf with wondering eyes was a great reinforcement to behave during dinner, a reason to eat those last bites at the table and to be good little children (and adults) right before bedtime.  Because Ziggy was watching — and reporting every move to Santa.

It’s amazing that a little story, imagination and personalized elf can turn a funny looking leotard clad toy into a household treasure.

Marketing Sling: Sometimes adding a fun way to interact with your product is all it needs to go from hum-drum to hum-dinger!  Give your customers permission to play. It could be as easy as letting customers name your product or create a story for it. Even better if you can find ways to incorporate your product into their daily routine or beloved tradition.

Ziggy is watching.
